Scores Slain in Jos Reprisal Attack<\/h2>\r\n

Gunmen\u2014suspected Muslim jihadists\u2014attacked Dogon Nahowa<\/strong> village late Monday night. They mowed down men, women, and children as they slept. Bloody machete carnage followed. Homes burned. Bodies torched with them.<\/p>\r\n

Residents woke to rapid gunfire. This atrocity was a reprisal attack<\/strong> over the January religious clashes. Victims faced machete and cutlass brutality. Then their attackers melted into the night.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cThey Lured Us Out\u201d<\/h3>\r\n

Villager Peter Jang recalled:<\/p>\r\n

\u201cThey shot to force people outside, then used machetes to slaughter them.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

Nearby villages\u2014Shen and Fan\u2014faced similar horrors. A Fulani herdsman link also emerged. Some claim herders attacked in anger over poisoned cattle.<\/p>\r\n

Leaders Demand Justice<\/h3>\r\n

Commissioner Gregory Yenlong demanded the arrest of journalist Saleh Bayare<\/strong>, accused of inciting violence at a Kaduna press conference.<\/p>\r\n

At the hospital, survivors arrived with severe machete wounds. Disturbingly, children were found beheaded in their beds.<\/p>\r\n

Traditional ruler Gbong Gwom Jos<\/strong>, Da Jacob Buba Gyang, described the incident as \u201cinhumanity.\u201d He urged faith and vowed justice, warning villagers not to seek revenge. Yenlong called it ethnic cleansing<\/strong> of the Berom people.<\/p>\r\n

Violence Born of History and Hurt<\/h3>\r\n

This is far from the first blood in Jos. Over 300 have died this year in religious violence.<\/p>\r\n

Plateau State is ground zero for festering tension\u2014Christian south, Muslim north. The 2010 riots claimed over 300 lives\u2014poor communities, radical theology, and shrinking land scars fuel unrest.<\/p>\r\n

Governor Jonah Jang<\/strong>, a Berom Christian, fears Muslim radicals from Niger, Chad, Libya, and Saudi Arabia aim to impose Sharia and seize power. He believes Jos stands as the final bastion of Christianity in Nigeria’s north.<\/p>\r\n

How Did It Escalate?<\/h3>\r\n

The religious zeal of the Muslim north has grown radicalized. Foreign influence spreads extremist ideology. Meanwhile, southern migrants living peacefully in Jos are not targeted, but northern Muslims are viewed with suspicion.<\/p>\r\n

Weapons flow unchecked in militia circles. And the government in Abuja remains distracted. President Yar\u2019Adua\u2019s absence triggered political instability. Acting President Goodluck Jonathan now runs the country. But the power shift heightened fear.<\/p>\r\n

Amid this chaos, even a four-day-old infant was killed.<\/p>\r\n

A Call to Action<\/h3>\r\n

These attacks undercut Nigeria\u2019s fragile balance. They destroy families, burn homes, and sow terror.<\/p>\r\n

Communities are engulfed by cycles of sectarian killings<\/strong>, and the world barely notices. These people \u2014 men, women, children \u2014 were created by the same loving God. But their deaths won\u2019t trend on Twitter. They won\u2019t interrupt the evening news in the West.<\/p>\r\n

Why? Because the West has nothing to lose by staying silent<\/strong>. And silence, in the face of evil, is complicity.<\/p>\r\n

Nigeria Is Crying Out<\/h3>\r\n

We have a dying president<\/strong>, an ailing economy<\/strong>, a crippled legislature<\/strong>, and a religious crisis that\u2019s turning neighbour against neighbour. It\u2019s all happening at once \u2014 and it\u2019s tearing Nigeria apart.<\/p>\r\n

We don\u2019t need more weapons. We need voices. We need pressure. We need action.<\/p>\r\n

If you\u2019re a praying person, Nigeria desperately needs your prayers now. But more than that, Nigeria needs you to speak out<\/strong>. Because if we don’t, we become willing participants in the violence. The pain of Rwanda<\/strong> is not some ancient horror \u2014 it happened within our lifetimes. Do we want another genocide on our conscience?<\/p>\r\n
